Synthetic speech (AI): real laws, real problems, real opportunities

Wednesday 7 October (1430 - 1545)

B3 9+10, Level 0

Committee(s)

Media Law Committee (Lead)

Description

This session will explore how the law is adapting to the challenges and opportunities posed by the roll out of AI with a focus on defamation, privacy, copyright and other media law issues.  We will examine how defences differ across key jurisdictions; what remedies are workable in fast moving, cross border disputes; and how free speech principles, content protection and practical newsroom workflows can be reconciled. Attendees will leave with a clear map of legal exposure, realistic enforcement strategies, and governance steps to identify problems, reduce litigation risk and take advantage of opportunities.
