Biography

Tomás Pessanha is a partner at Garrigues, in Portugal. Member of the Corporate / M&A practice, he heads the team at the firm’s Oporto office. He has over 25 years’ experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and corporate finance. He also regularly advises boards and management teams on corporate governance and compliance issues. Tomás has built a solid track record in complex M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions, on both sides of the negotiation table, in Portugal and abroad. He regularly advises on both transactional and regulatory aspects of deals involving domestic or foreign investors. Before joining Garrigues, he was a partner at PLMJ, heading the Corporate / M&A practice in Oporto. Tomás is a guest professor at Porto Business School and a regular lecturer in several conferences and seminars in his areas of expertise.
