Biography
As Head of Canada's Marketing and Intellectual Property Legal Team at Restaurant Brands International (RBI), Lauren leads legal strategy and execution across marketing, advertising, and brand protection for RBI’s four iconic brands – Tim Hortons®, Burger King®, Popeyes®, and Firehouse Subs® – in Canada, and internationally for Tim Hortons®. In this role, Lauren provides strategic counsel on all aspects of marketing and IP law, including advertising and promotional compliance, contests, sponsorships, trademarks, copyright, and brand integrity. Working closely with business and cross-functional leaders, Lauren ensures that RBI’s marketing and innovation initiatives align with legal and regulatory frameworks, while supporting bold, creative, and consumer-centric campaigns. Lauren also oversees the company’s brand protection and IP portfolio management strategy, ensuring consistent and effective protection of some of the world’s most recognized restaurant brands. Before joining RBI, Lauren served as Director of Business and Legal Affairs at Universal Music Group, where she structured and negotiated a wide range of music industry agreements, including artist recording, licensing, and platform digital distribution deals, as well as co-branding initiatives. Lauren’s earlier experience includes roles at Entertainment One, Hall Webber LLP, MBM Intellectual Property Law LLP, and Dentons LLP, where she gained broad expertise across entertainment, media, and IP law. Her work included advising on film and TV transactions, managing global trademark portfolios, trademark litigation, and anti-piracy initiatives, and contributing legal scholarship on trademark law as a published author in the Intellectual Property Journal.
