Biography
Njeri Mutura has worked in several countries around the globe where her focus has been acting as a trusted adviser to global organizations, particularly on legal and regulatory issues pertaining to emerging technologies. She currently serves as Assistant General Counsel for Microsoft Corporation where she works on deepening trust in technology, furthering responsible and ethical artificial intelligence (AI), data governance, sustainability, and accessibility. With extensive experience leading high performing, multi-faceted teams and providing trusted counsel to C-Suite and leadership teams, she works on strategy and engagement related to effective and responsible AI adoption. Njeri sits on several leadership teams aimed at driving strategies and executing impactful projects and priorities for the intricate and intensely competitive Microsoft business. Having practiced law as in-house counsel as well as a member of law firms in several jurisdictions, including the United States, Canada, the Middle East and Africa, Njeri lends a valuable perspective to a variety of organizations.
As a notable thought leader, Njeri is a sought-after speaker in the space of law and technology. In addition to spearheading forums where she interacts with leading legal and business minds across the globe on pertinent issues such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data privacy and protection, Njeri is often invited to such forums as a keynote speaker. She has had the privilege of delivering many presentations with CLE accreditation in several mediums and has trained thousands of legal and business professionals, including leaders from Fortune 500 companies. In addition to serving on several boards and committees, Njeri lends her time and expertise to many organizations such as the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), State Bar of California – Committee of Professional Responsibility and Conduct (COPRAC), California Lawyers Association (CLA), Conference of California Public Utility Counsel (CCPUC), Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), Corporate Counsel Women of Color (CCWC), National Bar Association (NBA), National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF), the International Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the Digital Trust Summit (DTS) among many others. Njeri is a member of the Ontario Bar and the State Bar of California.
