Innovation was the leading topic at the 4th European Automotive and Mobility Services Conference (the ‘Conference’) convened on 14 March 2024. Nearly 100 delegates gathered at Upper East, a unique venue boasting an industrial chic vibe on the ninth and tenth floors, located behind Ostbahnhof station.
The Conference kicked off with a high-powered interview of Moritz Wefelscheid, General Counsel of NIO Europe, by Christina Kunkel of Süddeutsche Zeitung. They delved into the exciting prospects and pressing challenges facing the prominent Chinese electric car manufacturer, including their unique ‘Nio House’ concept and innovative electric vehicle (EV) battery changing technology.
The day unfolded with a series of engaging sessions. Three panels, featuring industry leaders, tackled critical trends: current market dynamics, environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations and the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) within the legal landscape. The Conference also featured a ‘hot topics’ session and a closing discussion with Danilo Annese, Head of Global Retail at Stellantis, Milan, who provided valuable insights on the industry’s future trajectory.
The conference boasted an impressive lineup of speakers, including representatives from automotive giants such as IVECO, Robert Bosch, BMW Group, Volkswagen, Tesla Europe and many more. Discussions surrounding hot topics such as EV infrastructure were particularly insightful. Participants highlighted the need for strategic government support in establishing a robust charging network infrastructure, with a focus on home charging solutions and incentives for development in remote areas.
Another key discussion point explored the implications of the upcoming EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D). Delegates pondered how companies will ensure effective auditing throughout their supply chains and the potential impact on vertical integration within the industry.
The 4th European Automotive and Mobility Services Conference proved to be a resounding success, fostering valuable dialogue and collaboration. The momentum continues – save the date for the 5th edition on 26 March 2025! Join us for an evening welcome cocktail on 25 March, followed by a day of stimulating discussions.
