Internship Programme

The internship is open to current and recent postgraduates with a degree in law, human rights, international relations, or a related field.

We are seeking an intern to join our team as soon as possible for a three-month rotation, assisting with a key project. This is a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work, based in London. Eligible candidates may also have access to discretionary funding.

The eyeWitness intern will play a key role in cataloguing and organising footage and metadata to support critical international justice initiatives. This project demands attention to detail and strong organisational skills, as you will manage footage and associated metadata according to specific formats and guidelines.

The ideal candidate is passionate about human rights and international justice, with experience in handling data, databases, and Excel. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital evidence documentation and the application of technology in legal proceedings. Please note that there may be a requirement to view graphic material. Arabic language skills would be an asset.

About eyeWitness

eyeWitness seeks to bring the perpetrators of atrocities to justice by providing technical expertise in building photo and video dossiers that can be authenticated for use in criminal investigations or trials.

eyeWitness has developed technology that allows users to capture photos and video with a mobile camera app which embeds metadata to verify where and when the footage was taken, and whether the image was altered or not. Both the images and the metadata are stored in a secure gallery within the app until the user submits them to a storage database controlled by eyeWitness and hosted by Lexis Nexis. The transmission protocols and secure server system set up by eyeWitness create a chain of custody that allows this information to be presented in court.

An expert legal team analyses all information received, identifies the appropriate international, regional and/or national bodies to investigate further, and liaises with these mechanisms and our partner organisations to ensure the material is acted upon.

Created as an initiative of the International Bar Association, eyeWitness is a charity registered in the UK and governed by a Board of Trustees.
