Biography

After graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from the Faculty of Law, the University of Tokyo, he served as a Research Assistant at the same faculty. He subsequently held the position of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Hokkaido University, and later served as Associate Professor and then Professor at the Faculty of Law, Hosei University. He is currently Professor at the Graduate School of Law, Hosei University. He holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) degree and is a qualified attorney-at-law in Japan. He has also been a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge; the University of Geneva; and the Faculty of Law, Humboldt University of Berlin. His professional and academic appointments include: • Chair, Criminal Law Division, Legislative Council, Ministry of Justice of Japan • Chair, Bid Oversight Committee, Cabinet Office and Cabinet Secretariat of Japan • Director, Criminal Law Society of Japan • High-Level Advisor to the Secretary-General, OECD • Japanese Representative to the OECD Working Group on Bribery (WGB) • Member, Focus Group on AI for Autonomous Driving (FG-AI4AD) • Member, Editorial Board, Journal of Money Laundering Control • Project Leader, Research Group on Autonomous Vehicles, IATSS (Research No. 2202A)
