Biography

Cherry primarily focuses on contractual matters and claims within the supply chain, including international sale and purchase agreements, logistics contracts, contracts for services (cleaning, maintenance or construction of installations) and charter parties. She also regularly handles disputes relating to the supply of bunkers and is very much involved in the advising of Owners and Charterers on the new Fuel regulations. Her clients include suppliers and traders of commodities such as metals and fruit, as well as shipowners, charterers, and logistics service providers — including freight forwarders and warehouse operators. Cherry is a true litigation lawyer, with a keen eye for both the commercial relationship and the procedural strategy. Her aim is always to achieve a swift and effective resolution for her clients, ensuring that costs and benefits remain carefully balanced. Owing to her extensive litigation experience, she has developed profound expertise in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts. From time to time she acts also as arbitrator. Cherry began her career as a lawyer in 2004. As of 1 January 2019, she joined Caland Advocaten as one of its co-founders.
