Biography
Lena Vanmali is Associate General Counsel, Competition and Regulatory at Meta. Based in Sydney, Lena is senior lead in Meta’s global competition legal team and plays a critical role in navigating the company’s global competition and regulatory landscape. Lena provides strategic legal counsel to business leaders and product teams across the globe and manages a variety of competition matters and regulatory engagements involving the company in Australia, across the APAC region and beyond.
Lena joined Meta (then, Facebook) in 2020 after a decade in private practice where she was advising on a range of complex competition and regulatory matters from merger control to regulatory investigations to competition law reform across the globe for clients in multiple sectors including tech, retail, banking and finance and aviation. Previously she was a Senior Lawyer at Gilbert + Tobin and prior to that, Senior Associate at Freshfields in London.
Lena was included on the Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Rising Stars Australia 2022 and named as “Rising Star: Competition & Antitrust” as well as “Rising Star: UK” in LMG’s Europe Rising Star Awards (2019).
Throughout her career, Lena has been passionate about mentoring and developing the skills of young lawyers and participates regularly in mentoring through programs within and outside of Meta.
