Valentina Cabrera advises at the intersection of corporate, taxation and the energy business. For more than 25 years, multinational companies, Venezuelan businesses and international law firms have relied on her to structure, negotiate and implement complex matters in Venezuela. She has also helped build and sustain Torres, Plaz & Araujo’s Band 1 tax practice, as well as the firm’s energy and corporate practices. Her multidisciplinary strength is independently reflected in client feedback. Chambers clients describe her as “a brilliant lawyer with in-depth knowledge of tax and contract law” and praise her “practical, straightforward and effective recommendations.” Clients surveyed by The Legal 500—which recognizes her as a Leading Partner in Tax—call her “an extraordinary lawyer” and emphasize the breadth of her knowledge across tax law, contractual law and the oil and gas industry, together with her ability to understand complex issues quickly and deliver workable solutions. Valentina advises on corporate transactions and reorganizations, foreign investment, complex contracts, investment protection, domestic and international taxation, public procurement, and arrangements with the State and state-owned enterprises. Her energy practice spans oil and gas exploration and production, mixed-company structures and negotiations, drilling and oilfield services, petrochemicals, power projects and sophisticated service arrangements, including active participation in the structuring and negotiation of Hydrocarbon Production Participation Contracts (CPPHs) in Venezuela’s today oil industry. She also has longstanding experience advising clients in consumer products, food and beverage, and other regulated sectors. Valentina graduated cum laude from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in 1997.
