Biography

Siona Spillett is a Litigation Partner at DLA Piper with a focus on cross-border litigation in the life sciences and media sectors. In Life Sciences, she regularly advises pharmaceutical, medical device and medical equipment manufacturers on defending product liability claims (including consumer mass actions) and complex contractual disputes connected with R&D, procurement and cross-border supply chains. For media clients, she has advised on a range of corporate disputes including breach of warranty claims and procurement challenges, including those impacted by OFCOM, as well as defamation claims and licensing disputes. In her broader commercial practice, she regularly advised on complex breach of contract disputes and has secured freezing injunctions (including worldwide) over assets across Europe and Asia, as well as representing international clients in the Commercial Court. She has also been instructed on both international and domestic arbitration under the UNCITRAL and LCIA rules. Siona regularly speaks on conflict of law issues, including at Birmingham University and for the Law Society of England & Wales. She spent two terms at the Court of Appeal as the Judicial Assistant to the Master of the Rolls and, whilst in practice, achieved a distinction in a Masters degree in commercial law.
