Biography

Chris Kerr has been listed as one of The Lawyer’s Hot 100 lawyers. Chris has over 25 years experience as a corporate M&A lawyer who advises family-owned and owner-managed businesses across Scotland, many of which operate internationally. His work spans M&A, succession planning for businesses and business owners, and broader strategic corporate matters. He has a particular interest in the energy, marine economy, transport and healthcare sectors, and for a number of years Chris has been recognised for his work in employee ownership. The Legal 500 recognises he is “particularly knowledgable about the Scottish employee ownership market”. As Lead Partner for our Highlands, Islands & Moray operation, Chris combines regional leadership alongside a key role supporting businesses, business leaders and stakeholders in the north of Scotland. Chris also coordinates the firm’s Nordics desk, part of Harper Macleod’s international offering and has significant experience advising inbound investments and corporate transactions. Chris is listed in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame as one of Scotland’s leading Corporate & Commercial lawyers, recognised for his breadth of sector experience and strong track record in cross-border work. Alongside his practice, Chris has contributed to legal education including previous roles with the Glasgow Graduate Law School and Inverness College. Chris has also held non-executive director appointments with Highland-based companies.
