Biography

Mangaka is pursuing an MSt in Jewish Studies at the University of Oxford, Pembroke College. She joins the IBA Conference in Copenhagen as an invited student and brings experience across corporate finance, M&A, cross-border investment, corporate governance, legal research and public policy. She is a graduate of the University of Cape Town. Mangaka previously served as Executive Assistant to the CEO of Remgro Limited, a JSE-listed investment holding company. She was a member of Remgro’s transaction team from inception to completion of the take-private acquisition of Mediclinic in partnership with MSC. The transaction had an implied enterprise value of approximately £6.1 billion. In her role as Executive Assistant, Mangaka supported strategic and transaction-related matters, including M&A analysis, board briefings, commercial opportunity assessment and strategic coordination across legal, financial and operational stakeholders. Her wider responsibilities included synthesising complex information, identifying material commercial and governance issues, and preparing analysis for executive and board-level consideration. She also contributed to Remgro’s Integrated Annual Report, including the CEO Report and Chairman’s Message, and supported board-level engagements with investee companies. She served as a research assistant to Professor David Wilkins of Harvard Law School, conducting primary field research that contributed to his 2014 paper marking the 20th anniversary of South Africa’s constitutionalism. During an internship at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co in Mumbai, she gained exposure to M&A and private equity matters. While in India, she independently funded and conducted research on the life, jurisprudence and constitutional legacy of former Chief Justice of India P.N. Bhagwati. Her research included interviews with U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer, former South African Constitutional Court Justice Richard Goldstone, and Dr Zola Skweyiya, former South African Minister of Public Service and Administration. Her earlier experience includes an impact-investing internship with the IFC’s Grassroots Business Fund in Washington, D.C., and co-founding LehmanMeso, a South Africa–China-focused investment consultancy affiliated with LehmanBush, a global advisory firm. During South Africa’s 2025 G20 Presidency, Mangaka was an active member of the B20 South Africa Finance & Infrastructure Task Force team and an honorary member of the Trade & Investment Task Force. Her international speaking and convening experience includes addressing an audience at the White House on reconciliation and women’s representation and participating in Salzburg Global programmes, where she moderated a 2025 G20 panel and appeared as a panellist on South Africa’s G20 Presidency. She was inducted as a Salzburg Global Fellow in 2025.
