Marianna Nitsch

Biography

Marianna Nitsch, Global Chief Legal Officer, Chanel Limited Marianna Nitsch is the Global Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary of the global luxury company Chanel, leading a team of 230 professionals in Legal, Business Ethics, and Public Affairs. She is part of Chanel’s global Executive Committee and previously served as President of Fondation Chanel, France and on the Fondation's Global Board. Marianna is member of a number of luxury industry associations - she was Chanel’s first expert member of ECCIA (European Creative and Cultural Industries Association), serves on the French Comité Colbert Public Affairs committee, and is a board member of UK’s Walpole and UNIFAB. She also sits on the board of Thales, France. Before Chanel, Marianna spent eight years as European General Counsel for General Electric and seven years as International Head of Legal at Biogen Idec, a leading Biotech company. Her academic background includes a business undergraduate degree, a Master in Law from the University of Vienna, and postgraduate studies in International Economic Law from Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne), as well as, more recently, a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition. She began her career with 12 years in private practice with major US, French and UK law firms focused on public M&A and securities law.
