Biography

Dr Constantino Álvarez Casado is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Machine Vision and Signal Analysis (CMVS), University of Oulu, Finland, and Senior Scientist, Research and Compliance Director at Candour. He holds a Doctor of Science in Technology from the University of Oulu (Finland). His research combines computer vision, artificial intelligence and multimodal sensing for understanding human physiology, biometrics and behaviour. At Candour, he works on biometric identity verification, remote identity proofing, liveness detection and compliance, addressing both technical and non-technical requirements under eIDAS 2.0 and related standards. He has also contributed to the technical alignment of remote identity verification for integration into the European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem. His perspective combines academic research, practical deployment and compliance-oriented development, with particular attention to privacy, security, accountability and biometric assurance in digital identity systems.
