Biography
Shashank Garg is a Senior Advocate with diverse experience in arbitration, civil and commercial litigation. He is presently the Chair of ICC India Arbitration Group and Secretary of Arbitration Bar of India. He regularly sits as an Arbitrator in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations involving disputes on variety of areas including infrastructure, constructions, media and technology, commodities, energy, sports, etc. He has also acted in numerous arbitration cases as a counsel defending the interest of private and state-owned entities. He is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, and member of the Arbitration Committee, Delhi International Arbitration Centre. He is an empanelled arbitrator with various leading institutions worldwide. He was the Chair, Executive Committee, Delhi Arbitration Weekend 2024 and Convenor, Delhi Arbitration Weekend 2023. From 2017-19, he was ICC YAF’s ‘Regional Chapter Coordinator (India)’. Mr. Garg is the Editor of ‘Arbitrator’s Handbook’ published by Lexis Nexis wherein, contributions from experts from across the globe have been received. He is also the Editor of ‘Alternative Dispute Resolution: The Indian Perspective’ published by Oxford University Press. He has co-authored a chapter with (Late) Prof. Martin Hunter in the ‘Handbook on International Arbitration’ published by Wolters Kluwer, a chapter in ‘Commercial Arbitration: International Trends and Practices’ published by Thomson Reuters and a chapter with Tejas Karia in ‘Conciliation and Mediation in India’ published by Wolters Kluwer. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the DIAC Journal and the Indian Review of International Arbitration (IRIArb). He is also a visiting faculty at various renowned law schools in the country. He regularly speaks at dispute resolution events across the globe.
