Simon Thorp
Biography
Simon is a founding partner of Onside Law, a law firm specialising in sport. Prior to Onside Law’s launch in 2005, Simon was a corporate commercial lawyer at Slaughter and May, and Clifford Chance. Simon heads up the corporate practice acting for governing bodies, clubs, investors, founders, teams, talent and entrepreneurs all with a focus on the sports industry. Recently, Simon and the team have advised: - England and Wales Cricket Board on the sale of the Hundred franchises and related governance matters - England Netball on the structuring and launch of a new professional netball super league in UK including tender process for interested clubs and potential equity for third party investors and clubs - Baller League on a Euro multi-million investment in its by business by EQT Partners - ATP Media on governance matters relating to the restructuring of the commercial assets of ATP Tour and WTA in tennis - equestrian brand, LeMieux, on a private equity investment in its business by LDC. Simon is ranked as a leading sports law practitioner in Legal 500 who: “has comprehensive understanding of the sports sector; investment, good governance innovation, [is] well-connected and highly supportive.” Simon also sits as a non-executive director on the board of Gloucester Rugby.
