Biography
Valerie Kong is Clifford Chance’s Office Managing Partner in Singapore and a member of the Asia Pacific Leadership Group. She also serves as the Global Co-Head of the firm’s Consumer Goods & Retail sector, driving strategic initiatives and key growth areas.
As the Office Managing Partner in Singapore, Valerie leads a team of over 120 lawyers across all practice areas. She began her career with Clifford Chance as an intern in 1999 and has since worked in both the London and Singapore offices. From 2019 to 2022, she also served on the firm's global Partner Selection Group, which is the governance body responsible for making recommendations on partner promotion and recruitment.
Specialising in corporate M&A, Valerie has extensive experience advising financial investors and multinational corporations on complex cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestments across South East Asia and other emerging markets. She is dual-qualified to practise law in England & Wales and Singapore, and is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer in various legal directories including Chambers Global, Chambers Asia Pacific, Legal 500 and IFLR1000.
Valerie graduated with first-class BA (hons) in law from the University of Cambridge and completed her Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School with distinction. She is passionate about championing the culture of inclusion and collaboration and ensuring the firm's continued success as an ethical and responsible business.
