Biography

As the head of our tax practice group, a former board member of Stibbe from 2020 to 2023 and previously a resident partner at our London and New York offices, Michael’s expertise is global. Michael has a law degree from Amsterdam University and an LL.M. (US Tax Law) from New York University. Michael specializes in domestic and international taxation, showcasing a particular focus on M&A and private equity transactions, corporate reorganizations, and investment fund structures. His expertise allows him to guide large multinational companies, financial institutions, and private equity firms through complex and technically challenging issues at every stage of their operations. He is also known for his adept handling of contentious tax matters. A recognized thought leader in the field, Michael frequently shares his insights on international tax issues as a speaker at various forums.
