Lucinda Soon

Biography

Lucinda Soon is a dual-qualified solicitor of England and Wales and an organisational psychologist, specialising in legal ethics, professional responsibility, and lawyer and judicial wellbeing. Her work focuses on applying robust empirical methods and insights from psychology to develop ethical and healthy workplaces in law. Lucinda combines her work in academia with consulting for organisations and policymakers on a variety of research and advisory projects. She has spent the past two decades practising in-house and in private practice, advising lawyers, law firms, in-house legal teams, and the judiciary on ethical issues and professional responsibility, with corporate clients ranging from small start-ups to large, established UK, US and global entities. She has also advised professional bodies, regulators, and institutional stakeholders on ethical standards and policy development, in the UK and internationally. Lucinda’s academic research spans behavioural ethics, legal professionalism, workplace culture and wellbeing, bringing together the disciplines of law, psychology, sociology, and business management. She is a doctoral researcher at Birkbeck, University of London, and lectures at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London, where she leads the module on Psychology for Legal Practitioners on the MSc Law and Professional Practice programme. Lucinda is also a Trustee for LawCare, the mental health and wellbeing charity for the UK legal profession, Co-Chair for the IBA Professional Wellbeing Commission, and an officer of the IBA Academic and Professional Development Committee.
