Amir Singh Pasrich

Biography

Amir Singh Pasrich is a commercial lawyer with a wide range of experience in contentious and non-contentious work. He has practiced in India since 1992. He co-founded the law firm 'International Law Affiliates' (I.L.A.) in 1998. Today Pasrich also acts as counsel for Commercial Disputes and Arbitration. He has been involved with international work from the time when he returned to India with a law degree from Oxford University (1989-1992) where he studied International Trade & Commercial Law (under Prof. F.M.B Reynolds, Prof. G.H. Trietel & Prof Roy M. Goode). IBA: Pasrich joined the International Bar Association (IBA) in 1997 and was appointed a sub-committee chair in 2000. He went on to co-chair the IBA's International Commerce & Distribution Committee. He served two terms as a member of the IBA's Legal Practice Division (LPD) Council. He has been a member of the IBA's Bar Issues Commission Policy Committee (2017-22) and is a former Vice-Chair of the Asia Pacific Forum. Positions, Work & Recognitions: Pasrich Chaired the Law & Justice Committee of the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI) from 2018 to 2020 and Chair of the PHDCCI Expeditious Access to Justice Forum in 2021-22. He is presently Vice-President of the Oxford & Cambridge Society of India. Pasrich has been recognised individually in the 2023 Legal 500, Chambers Asia and 2022 Who's Who Legal in multiple disciplines. As a counsel he has several reported judgments to his credit and has spoken at several dozen international conferences of the IBA, IPBA, UIA etc. Clients: He is Honorary Legal Advisor to the British High Commissioner (reappointed October 2022). His client list has included the Canadian High Commission and the Government of Canada (from 1995 till today), Ashok Leyland Ltd. (the Hinduja Group) since 1992, Accenture India Pvt. Ltd. (since 2020), Ambuja Cements Ltd. (since 2021), Achenbach Buschhütten GmbH & Co. KG (2017 onwards), over a dozen international airlines (such as British Airways PLC, Swiss International, Delta Air Lines Inc., Air France & KLM), the Embassy of France and the Ambassador of France, the Delegation of the European Union, the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society etc. Pasrich has acted as lead counsel in commercial cases ranging from international arbitrations to company cases. He appears regularly in the High Court of Delhi, in the Supreme Court of India, NCLT, NCLAT, CCI tribunals and in various High Courts outside Delhi. In 2017 he led the firm (now known as I.L.A. Pasrich & Company) to join the non-exclusive NextLaw network. He has been a passionate advocate of reform to speed up the Indian legal system and is pursuing an 'India Project' for which he has written articles on the pendency pandemic and consequences of delayed justice. Other: Amir likes to play polo on horseback, is a keen swimmer and plays squash. He enjoys trekking, golf and reading. He is married to Shivani Wazir Pasrich and has two daughters Ameera & Ayesha.
