Biography

Alexandra Courela is Partner at Abreu Advogados and co-coordinates the Tax Practice Area, with a strong focus on general corporate tax, international taxation and transactional tax. Her main areas of expertise are Tax and M&A, and her work primarily concentrates on consultancy for several national and international companies and on providing legal assistance to private clients in the context of tax planning and management and restructuring of their asset holding structures. Alexandra did two secondments - Wragge and Co (in Birmingham) and the Baker & McKenzie (London). These experiences allowed her to work with different jurisdictions and cross-border matters. Since returning from UK, where she also completed a LL.M. at the London School of Economics, she has been actively involved in the tax assistance to major international groups and high net worth individuals. In the last years, Alexandra has also focused on digital tax matters, specifically in the areas of online gambling tax, NFTs and cryptocurrencies. In addition, co-coordinates the ESG service and is head the Pro Bono Program within the Sustainability project and, because the future depends on the new generations, she heads the Olimpo program that focuses on recruiting, training and integrating the new generation of lawyers.
