Biography

Ian McDougall is President of the LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation, a charity established to advance the Rule of Law. He is Chair of the United Nations Global Compact Legal Advisory Board and Professor at IE University in Madrid, where he teaches the Rule of Law, Freedom of Speech in the digital age, and Artificial Intelligence and the legal profession. Since 2023 he has been a Trustee of the Civil Liberties Trust in the UK and since 2024 Trustee of the International Bar Association Foundation. Until September 2024, he was Executive Vice President and General Counsel for LexisNexis, having been with the company for 20 years and involved in the Artificial Intelligence sector for the last decade. At LexisNexis, Mr McDougall held various roles including CEO – Asia Pacific, HR Director and Managing Director for LexisNexis New Zealand.
