Biography

Robert Ellison practiced law for 25 years at Shearman & Sterling LLP (now A&O Shearman), including 18 years as a Partner. He joined the firm in 1994, working as an associate in Paris and New York, and was elected Partner in Paris in 2001. He was appointed Managing Partner of the firm’s Rome office in 2002, and then Managing Partner of the São Paulo office in 2010. His practice focuses on international capital markets financings and cross-border merger and acquisition transactions. He holds a Law degree from King’s College London, a Maîtrise de droit from the Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and a Masters in Law (LL.M.) from the University of Pennsylvania. He has qualified as an Attorney in New York, a Solicitor in England & Wales (currently non-practising) and an Avocat at the Paris bar (currently non-practising). He is registered in Brazil as a foreign legal consultant (consultor em direito estrangeiro). He speaks English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, and is a citizen of the UK, Italy and Brazil.
