Yvette Borrius

Biography

Yvette Borrius is partner of the law firm Florent in Amsterdam, where she co-heads the litigation team. The firm has a solid track record in dispute resolution involving insolvency and fraud matters, corporate and commercial transactions, finance, and investment/securities. Florent’s lawyers combine academic depth and a wealth of experience in different arenas. Yvette has over 25 years’ experience in handling (international) complex multiparty liability proceedings, corporate governance, arbitration and commercial litigation. Yvette is regularly appointed as examiner by the Dutch Enterprise Chamber and frequently involved in high-profile (forensic) governance investigations. With her expertise and sound understanding of cross-border civil litigation cases, she is sought as co-counsel by prominent law firms. Significant litigation cases include: Vestia (involving the Dutch state), Meavita (mismanagement), Fortis v VEB and foreign claimants, AkzoNobel (shareholders – PPG takeover dispute), Dieselgate consumer litigation, enforcement against foreign states and several well-known shareholder class actions such as Royal Imtech NV and Steinhoff International Holding NV. Yvette frequently publishes in her field of expertise. She is an annotator of case law and is regularly invited to lecture at universities and conferences within the Netherlands and abroad. She is involved as expert in legislative consultations. Yvette is lead author of, among other titles, the Chambers Litigation Guide (2022). She is immediate past chair of the IBA litigation committee, engaged with the Dutch Bar committee on company law, and chair of the Dutch Associaton for Corporate Litigation. Yvette is member of the Dutch Association for Procedural Law. She speaks English, French and German. Yvette is ranked as leading individual in Chambers Europe and Chambers Global (commercial litigation).
