Liam Kennedy
Biography
Since July 2023 Liam has been a Judge of the Irish High Court and is a member of the Judges & Advocates Forum. Previously, a partner in A&L Goodbody, Dublin, and a member (and former chair) of the International Bar Association’s Litigation Committee, he originally qualified as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand and then in England & Wales, working first in Wellington and then London where he worked with Herbert Smith. He was in private practice in Dublin with A&L Goodbody for 30 years, including as head of litigation. He represented clients in Ireland and internationally in international private and public law disputes and regulatory investigations. He served on the Council of the Law Society of Ireland for 14 years and is a former Chair of its Litigation Committee. He was also a leader of the Ireland for Law initiative, an Irish government initiative designed to promote Ireland as a venue for international legal services and transactions. He was one of the first Irish solicitors to be appointed Senior Counsel. He was appointed to the High Court of Ireland in July 2023.
