Biography

Jan Stappers is Regulatory Solutions Director at NAVEX and a frequent speaker on subjects related to governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) regulation and best practices. He has been invited to present at international conferences including the UIA Union Internationale des Avocats, The Law Society’s Risk & Compliance Annual Conference, International Bar Association, ACC Europe, and Data Protection Forum. Furthermore, his session on the “Challenges towards practical implementation of the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive” at the ERA Academy of European Law Conference resulted in a published article in the Springer Law academic paper. Jan is regularly referenced in prestigious media outlets such as Compliance, Ethics, and Sustainability Journal, Solicitor’s Journal, IT Pro, Business & Legal Review as a sought-after author on regulatory developments within GRC, ESG, CSR, whistleblowing, and third-party risk. Jan is a member of the European AI Alliance and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) “Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies.” This working party is broken into six parts and Jan is a member of the Group of Experts on Risk Management in Regulatory Systems. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Jan holds a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) from King’s College London (EU Competition Law) and a master’s degree (LL.M) from Leiden University (European Law).
