Biography

Shruti Rajan is a Partner in the Mumbai office of Trilegal and specialises in contentious and non-contentious areas of financial services regulation. Her legal expertise spans a wide spectrum, from market entry/innovation, compliance advisory, governance, and risk assessment to internal investigations, enforcement and disputes. Financial technology and its increasing use in transforming traditional securities and banking business is an increasingly complex area that she spearheads at the firm. Shruti’s extensive experience includes advising regulated entities and listed companies on regulatory risk identification, managing conflicts of interest, internal controls and processes, policies, governance structures, and senior management and board liability. Shruti and her team support corporate teams in managing regulatory touchpoints connected with mergers, acquisitions and corporate restructurings, especially in the banking and securities market space. Enforcement, governance and market conduct are areas of particular interest for Shruti. She has been keenly involved in a number of pre-contentious and contentious matters, including internal investigations and inspections. She routinely represents clients before the Securities and Exchange Board of India, the Securities Appellate Tribunal and the Supreme Court.
