Biography
Lauren Thomas reports on M&A and shareholder activism for The Wall Street Journal in New York, where she and her colleagues consistently break market-moving news about the biggest deals, from Exxon Mobil’s $60 billion deal for Pioneer Natural Resources, to Capital One's $35 billion deal for Discover Financial, to Coach owner Tapestry's $8.5 billion deal for Michael Kors' parent Capri. She also breaks news on the biggest proxy fights in corporate America, including Nelson Peltz's run at Disney. Before joining WSJ in 2022, she covered the retail industry at CNBC. There, she broke news on companies ranging from Peloton to Kohl’s to Lululemon, and frequently appeared on CNBC programming. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Lauren is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied business journalism and Spanish.
