Gregory McIntyre

Biography

Mr McIntyre has had a distinguished legal career spanning over four decades. His early experience was with the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Legal Service of Queensland. He also worked as a sole practitioner in Cairns and held the position of President of the Far North Queensland Law Association in 1987. In 1993, he joined the Independent Bar in Western Australia, and after almost a decade of relentless service and outstanding contributions, he was appointed as Senior Counsel in 2002. His current practice comprises diverse areas such as Native Title, Aboriginal heritage protection, environmental law, racial discrimination, personal injuries, and professional conduct matters. Mr McIntyre has held high-profile leadership roles in the legal fraternity. In 2019, he served as the President of the Law Society of Western Australia and has been a Director of the Law Council of Australia since that time. Mr McIntyre is the 2024 President of the Law Council of Australia.
