Irene Arevalo
Biography
Irene is a partner at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Litigation and Arbitration department. She holds a double Law and Business Administration (E3) degree from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, ICADE (2003). She specialised in Insolvency law at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas and had an advanced course in Arbitration at the IE Business School. Prior to joining Gómez-Acebo & Pombo she worked for international law firms such as Clifford Chance and White & Case. She has a 20-year experience in commercial and insolvency litigation, restructuring and international and domestic arbitration. She is currently an officer in the Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association and was awarded the InspiraLaw Top 50 Women award in 2018 by Iberian Lawyer. She is ranked in the Best lawyer, IFLR 1000 and Legal500 directories. She has participated as an author in several specialised legal publications and has been a lecturer in various insolvency and litigation programmes (Madrid Bar Association, Universidad Carlos III, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Universidad San Pablo CEU). LITIGATION EXPERIENCE: in commercial, corporate and private equity disputes, such as advising on major antitrust damages cases, distribution agreements damages claims, construction and shareholders’ disputes in the wine sector. ARBITRATION EXPERIENCE: in international (ICC) and domestic (CIMA, CAM) proceedings in corporate, infrastructure and construction disputes. INSOLVENCY EXPERIENCE: advising both creditors (international funds and financial institutions) and debtors in some of the most relevant distressed situations in Spain, both in insolvency and pre-insolvency scenarios.
