Ingvild Ombudstvedt

Biography

Ingvild Ombudstvedt is a lawyer and economist, and the founder of IOM Law. She has been working on legal issues relating to carbon capture and storage (CCS), carbon capture and utilization (CCU), negative emissions/carbon removals, enhanced oil recovery with associated CO2 storage (CO2-EOR) and petroleum since 2012. She has extensive experience with these issues globally. She has previously worked on projects under the Oil for Development Program, advising developing countries on public international law and petroleum law related issues, as aiding in the development of regulatory framework. She has further gained experience with capacity building, and developing and implementing of regulatory framework for CCS and CCUS. Ombudstvedt is appointed national expert for Norway as part of the ISO project TC265, which is established to provide ISO standards for CCS and CO2-EOR. She is Chair of the Norwegian delegation. She is former Chairperson of the Norwegian Association for CCUS and BASRECCS (Baltic Sea Region Energy Cooperation CCS Expert Network). Ombudstvedt has a law degree from the Univeristy of Oslo and she is a member of the Norwegian Bar Association. She is currently taking a Masters of Law in U.S. Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Law.
