Tania Miranda

Biography

Tania Miranda is the Director of the Environment & Climate Change Program at the Institute of the Americas, an NGO based in La Jolla, California, within the UCSD campus, where she focuses on the intersection between climate change and biodiversity. For the past three years, she’s led projects that promote data-driven coastal and marine ecosystem conservation strategies; the sustainability of the maritime transportation industry; as well as cross-cutting themes of sustainable finance, such as climate- and biodiversity-related disclosure regulations and ESGs. She has over 6 years of experience with multiple Mexican government agencies at the federal level, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ProMexico, the Mexican Embassy in Washington D.C., and the Consulate of Mexico in New York. Tania studied a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Minor in International Relations at the University of Southern California, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and a Master’s of Science in Energy Policy & Climate from the Johns Hopkins University. She has published an array of research and opinion pieces, co-authored a published book titled “We Are North America”, and writes frequently for Mexican news outlets such as El Universal and El Heraldo de México.
