Biography

I have been based in Asia since January 1998, living and working in Hong Kong, Tokyo and now Kuala Lumpur. I am privileged to have lead the Asia disputes practice of Herbert Smith Freehills which is widely recognised as the pre-eminent practice in the Asia region. For the past two decades, I have been involved in many of the regions biggest disputes either as arbitrator or counsel. I have built up extensive experience in arbitration, litigation, investigations and other forms of dispute resolution, helping clients to resolve their cross-border disputes across a range of sectors, including energy, infrastructure; telecoms,consumer and pharma. Most of my work has a cross border element and I have represented clients in arbitrations all over the world, under various laws (both common law and civil law), and under ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC, AIAC, KCAB, TAI, UNCITRAL, AAA and ad-hoc rules. I have been fortunate to be recognised as one of the leading figures for dispute resolution in the region and have been consistently listed as a market leader in Chambers, Legal 500 and Who's Who. I am best known for my strategic insights and ability to cut quickly to the nub of an issue and have, somewhat embarrassingly, been described in various legal directories as a "real expert," "superstar," and a "doyen" in the dispute resolution market. However, the statement I most valued in the past twenty years was "with Peter you get what you pay for and much more'.
