A webinar presented by the IBA Professional Wellbeing Commission, supported by the IBA Bar Issues Commission Regulation Committee and the IBA Professional Ethics Committee.
This webinar aims to raise awareness about the importance of considering professional wellbeing in regulation, and encourage regulators who are not yet considering this to do so. We aim to provide a resource for organisations who are beginning to think about these issues by sharing the challenges and approaches that different regulators have taken, drawing the connection between physical, emotional and mental health as a key component of competence to practice, through education and outreach, enacting rule changes, or diversion or probationary standards.
As such, the webinar will explore:
- how legal regulators are considering the impact of professional wellbeing on lawyers meeting the regulatory and ethical standards expected of them;
- the steps regulators are taking to mitigate the risks associated with poor professional wellbeing; and
- the approaches regulators take to conduct issues related to professional wellbeing.
