A webinar presented by the IBA Law Firm Management Committee and supported by the IBA Women Lawyers’ Committee and IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee
While women have made great strides over the past years in terms of entering the legal profession and even becoming partner, the numbers are skewed in the wrong direction when it comes to having a book of business or becoming a firm leader. Women are still far behind. While we do need systemic changes, business development skills play an important role in getting women to the next level and offering them choices in how they will design their own careers.
This session plans to offer practical real-world advice from women and men who have mastered the art of rainmaking. The session will look at questions like:
- What talents and skills does it take for a woman to be a rainmaker and, if she is lacking in either, what can she do to catch up?
- What are the best ways to develop business: referrals, profile building, social media, long-term relationships, or some combination of all of these?
- What does personal brand have to do with business development and how can you carve out your own unique niche?
- What can law firms do to help even the playing field for women?
