A webinar presented by the IBA International Commerce and Distribution Committee with the support of the IBA Criminal Law Committee and the IBA Business Crime Committee
Governments around the world have responded to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by imposing a complex web of economic sanctions that continue to evolve with the situation on the ground. Navigating these different sanctions regimes – and Russia’s countersanctions – has been and continues to be challenging for companies, non-profits and other actors operating in Russia or with a touchpoint to Russia.
This session will feature a panel of law firm attorneys and sanctions law experts based in Germany, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and the US. They will share their practical insights on some of the most common (and most consequential) Russia-related sanctions risks that their clients have addressed. A focal point of the discussion will be questions that global actors in Russia have found themselves asking: should I stay or should I go? If I go, how can I do so without violating sanctions on the way out and while preserving the safety of local personnel? If I stay, what (if anything) needs to change about my business operations to ensure sanctions compliance?
