Law firm Paul, Weiss recognised with an IBA Group Member Award for significant pro bono work

Monday 17 November 2025

International law firm Paul, Weiss has received a Group Member Award for outstanding pro bono contribution to the International Bar Association (IBA). The Award, bestowed by the IBA, is in recognition of significant advice received in relation to compliance with International Criminal Court-related sanctions issued by the United States during a time of rapidly evolving changes to those sanctions that have the potential to impact the IBA’s operations, particularly in The Hague.

The Award was presented by the President of the IBA, Jaime Carey, to Jessica S Carey and Nicole Succar of Paul, Weiss during the 2025 IBA Annual Conference at the IBA Group Members’ Breakfast on Monday 3 November. The Breakfast took place in the Crystal Ballroom of the Omni King Edward Hotel, 37 King Street East, Toronto, ON, M5C 1E9, Canada.

Jessica S Carey, Co-Chair of the Paul, Weiss Litigation Department said: ‘The IBA plays a singular role in safeguarding the integrity of legal institutions worldwide, and assisting it is both a privilege and a responsibility. Our firm provided over 90,000 pro bono legal hours last year and is set to surpass that number this year. We are proud to continue our partnership with the IBA and legal aid providers to ensure fairness in the justice system.’

Nicole Succar, Partner at Paul, Weiss stated: ‘We are honoured that the IBA entrusted us to advise on fast-changing US sanctions regulations, with real operational implications in The Hague. This work underscores why pro bono service is essential: it equips mission-driven organisations to continue their vital work with confidence and without interruption.’

It is the first time since 2022 that the Award has been conferred.
