Exploring trial-free approaches to combatting corruption

Tuesday 12 November (1315 - 1445)

Description

This session will be focused on innovative trial-free resolutions in corruption cases, examining the applicability and efficacy in a diverse range of jurisdictions. With recent legislative reforms, the international landscape for combating corruption has evolved significantly. This discussion aims to explore the potential benefits, challenges, and legal and ethical considerations of adopting trial-free resolution mechanisms. These include negotiated settlements, alternative dispute resolution and administrative penalties. The speakers will elucidate the practical implications and cross-border complexities of implementing trial-free approaches to combat corruption on domestic and global levels. Speakers will also analyse the implications of such approaches on the investigation, prosecution and resolution of corruption cases worldwide, emphasising the importance of public disclosure and ensuring that trial-free resolutions do not impede effective investigations or prosecutions.
