Session information
Young litigators seminar: How to crack expert evidence – you be the judge
Wednesday 3 May (1500 - 1700)
Description
A seminar presented by the Young Litigators Forum of the IBA Litigation Committee
The session will focus on how to cross-examine experts, based on a hypothetical supported by materials. The attendees are invited to read the materials in advance, to acquaint themselves with the case and thus follow the seminar more effectively.
The session will start with the panel (formed of experts in damage valuation and barristers/lawyers) conducting a mock cross-examination of expert witnesses, before providing advice on the dos and don’ts and discussing differences between expert witness examination methods in different jurisdictions.
Subsequently, the audience will decide which was the most effective way of proceeding and will have the chance to participate in a Q&A session with the panel.
The session will be a great opportunity for young lawyers and law students to learn from seasoned professionals and to get acquainted with the difficult art of expert cross-examination.
