What good can come of this? Emotional and mental wellbeing and the legal workplace post Covid-19
A webinar presented by the IBA European Regional Forum
The webinar seeks to explore the challenges currently facing law firms in developing working practices in response to the Covid-19 outbreak which support the emotional and mental wellbeing of their staff, both during and post the pandemic. Overnight, working patterns have been upended, and pre-existing barriers broken down. Far from being an unworkable luxury, mass remote working is now the default. The physical and emotional divide between our work and family lives has also been shattered. The question is how best can law firms respond to these challenges and opportunities and, in doing so, promote an emotionally and mentally healthy workplace?
- What impact has the Covid-19 outbreak and our responses to it had on our working lives, and on our emotional and mental health?
- What benefits and opportunities have these changes brought, and how can law firms adapt their workplace practices to ensure these are not lost once the crisis is over?
- What will be the challenges for law firms in taking account of the experiences of their lawyers and support staff during the pandemic, and in successfully developing new workplace practices in response?
- Law firms are increasingly seeking to promote the importance of an emotionally and mentally healthy workplace and at the same time demonstrate their respect for the rights, diversity, and contribution of their staff. In this context, what can they do post Covid-19 to demonstrate that their staff are valued, listened to, and supported?
