Yuko Nishitani
Biography
Yuko Nishitani is Professor at Kyoto University in Japan and Vice President of the Hague Academy of International Law. She holds a Ph.D. from Heidelberg and spent ten years researching abroad. She held visiting professorships at NYU and Duke in the U.S., as well as in Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Israel, and Taiwan. She has served in several legislative committees in Japan and been a delegate of Japan to the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH). She specializes in conflict of laws (private international law), dispute resolution, comparative law, and family law. Her areas of interest include legal pluralism, colonialism, multiculturalism, SDGs, business and human rights, and climate change.
