Alexandra Gillies
Biography
Alexandra Gillies is the Chief Impact Officer of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), an international network of investigative journalists. Her team works to expand the use of investigative journalism by groups dedicated to protecting democracy and combatting corruption and organized crime. She joined OCCRP in 2022, and also serves as the director of the Global Anti-Corruption Consortium, a partnership led by OCCRP and Transparency International that connects investigative journalism with civil society advocacy. Previously, Alexandra led anti-corruption work at the Natural Resource Governance Institute, focused on the oil, mining, and commodity trading sectors. She is the author of the book Crude Intentions: How Oil Corruption Contaminates the World (OUP, 2020), and holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge where she researched the politics of Nigeria’s oil sector.
