Biography

I work at the intersection of legal ethics and organisational psychology. Through interdisciplinary, empirical research, I examine ways in which ethics, integrity, and wellbeing can be strengthened in the legal profession and judiciary. I qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2009 and practised for nearly two decades in private practice and in-house roles, specialising in legal ethics and regulation. I now focus on research, teaching, and policy development. I research and teach law and psychology, legal ethics and regulation, and wellbeing among lawyers and judges. I have a particular interest in how ethics and integrity intersect with workplace factors and wellbeing. From a policy perspective, I help law societies, bar associations, regulators, and international organisations develop evidence-based policies to address ethical and psychosocial risks facing the legal sector. I serve on several boards and committees in the UK and internationally, including as a Trustee of LawCare, the mental health charity for the UK legal profession; Co-Chair of the International Bar Association (IBA) Professional Wellbeing Commission; Officer of the IBA Bar Issues Commission Regulation Committee; and Co-Convenor of Practice, Profession and Ethics at the Society of Legal Scholars.
