Biography
Chief Mrs. Wendy Kuku, SAN, the first and only female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) of Rivers State origin, is a distinguished lawyer, a Chartered Arbitrator and public servant who drips excellence and thoroughness. With over 20 years of experience in law practice, specializing in electoral law and general litigation, she currently heads the Pre- election Unit in the Litigation & Prosecution Department of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters. She has acted as lead counsel in several pre-election and election Petitions that have helped define and shape the law in Nigeria. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB.) from the Rivers State University and thereafter graduated from the Nigerian Law School, Bwari with a BL. Learned Silk holds a Master's Degree in Election & Party Politics (MEPP) from the University of Benin. She also attended a Diploma course in International Commercial Arbitration from the Oxford University, London. She is a Facilitator and has served as a Resource person on various discussion panels, providing insights into issues on Taxation, Professional Ethics, Gender based violence, Women in Leadership, etc. In addition to her professional achievements, Chief Mrs. Wendy Kuku, SAN, is passionate about mentoring and moulding young women and female lawyers. Learned Silk belongs to various professional bodies and fora such as the International Bar Association(IBA), Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb.), the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), NBA Women Forum (NBAWF), NBA Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL), Section on Legal Practice (SLP), the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria where she has participated in various advocacy outreach efforts to communities in Abuja on the Child Rights Act and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) [VAPP] Act, 2015. Not only is she a member of these organizations, she has also served in diverse Executive capacity to wit: the immediate past Treasurer, Fida Abuja Branch (2022 – 2025), Chairperson of the FIDA Law Week Committee (2025 – 2026), Chairperson of the NBAWF Annual Conference Planning Committee, (2026). She currently serves as the Chairperson of the NBA Committee on Correctional Reforms and Decongestion. The distinguished Learned Silk is a lover of God, she is the Women Leader of her church and as part of her hobbies, she loves singing, travelling, and sports. She is happily married to a supportive and amazing husband and blessed with three (3) adorable children.
