Biography
Ulrich Bäumer advises on the drafting and negotiation of complex international IT project agreements (primarily outsourcing, ERP, licences, XaaS, cloud) and supports technology companies in IT-driven M&A transactions.
He has many years of experience in drafting and negotiating all types of IT contracts, including licence, software development, maintenance, distribution and project agreements, as well as IT-related general terms and conditions. He also advises on all other aspects of technology and licensing law. He is co-head of the India Group.
His clients include international technology companies and various industrial companies. He also advises many German companies on their licensing and IT projects and on their involvement in India. He is a trusted lawyer of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA - Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V.).
According to Wirtschaftswoche, Handelsblatt and WHO's WHO Legal (2025), Ulrich is one of the best lawyers for IT law in Germany. Chambers & Partners and the India Business Law Journal consider him one of the leading corporate M&A lawyers with regard to India.

Ulrich studied in Würzburg, Aberystwyth (UK) and Cologne; in 1997, he obtained an LL.M. from George Washington University, Washington DC. He began his legal career in 1999 at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Frankfurt and has been working for Osborne Clarke since 2004. He is legal advisor to the IT association VOICE e.V. and a member of the board of the CIO Foundation.
Ulrich is a guest lecturer (IT law) at the University of Cologne, WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, Columbia University (NYC) and the National Law School, Bangalore (India).
