Biography

Don Maher is the VP of Global Tax at Mohawk Industries, a U.S. based multinational flooring company located outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Don is a transactional tax lawyer by training and brings a wealth of experience with varying organizations, spanning more than 25 years. Prior experience includes several years working in public accounting and for other large multinational companies, where he handled the tax aspects of large, complex, and high-profile transactions. In those roles, Don was responsible for evaluating the most tax efficient manner for completing a transaction that was consistent with the stated business goal, while simultaneously overseeing recurring audit and tax controversies within and outside the United States. His responsibilities included global transfer pricing, developing tax controversy strategy and tactics, analyzing tax controversy trends and developments impacting tax positions, and ensuring adequate tax reserves were maintained for exposures.
