Biography
Dirk-Jan Maasland has been practising as a private client lawyer / civil-law notary since 2004. Early 2017 he joined the Family Owned Business & Private Wealth Practice Group at Loyens & Loeff in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he currently serves as practice group chair. Dirk-Jan focuses on consultancy with regard to (international) estate and succession planning, family governance and the handling of complex, often cross-border estates. He has a degree in both private and tax law. He passed the notarial professional training and the Grotius specialisation course on estate planning with distinction. He is the author of various publications in the field of inheritance law and estate planning. Also he regularly lectures on these topics. Dirk-Jan is an Officer of the Private Client Tax Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) as well as a member of both the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law (TIAETL) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
