Biography

Clara Choi is a partner of Slaughter and May, based in Hong Kong. She has advised on numerous high-profile Hong Kong public takeovers – most recently the US$4.5 billion general offer for NWS by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, which won the “M&A Deal of the Year” at the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2024. Notably, she is the only lawyer to have advised on all three takeovers of Hong Kong banks in recent years. In addition to public takeovers, Clara specialises in spin-offs, private M&A and securities transactions. She is known for her work on ground-breaking transactions, including the first digital bank joint venture in Hong Kong. Clara has been recognised as a “Highly Regarded Lawyer” and a “Woman Leader” in three practice areas - M&A, ECM and DCM - by IFLR1000.
