Katie Chung
Biography
Katie Chung is a disputes and international arbitration partner in Norton Rose Fulbright based in Singapore. With more than 17 years’ experience, Katie advises and represents both private and state-owned clients in Asia Pacific-related international commercial and investor-state arbitrations conducted under all major institutional and ad hoc arbitration rules, including ICSID, ICC, LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC and UNCITRAL Rules. These disputes usually involve a wide range of applicable laws (including international law) and multi-jurisdictional parallel court proceedings. She has extensive experience across a broad spectrum of industries, including aviation, energy (oil & gas, LNG, renewable energy, power), commodities, financial institutions, infrastructure, digital infrastructure, telecoms, technology and cryptocurrency, and advises on investment treaty claims. Katie acts as lead counsel in international arbitrations and mediations, and regularly sits as an arbitrator, having accepted appointments in institutional arbitrations seated in Singapore or Hong Kong under the ICC, SIAC and HKIAC Rules. She is on the reserve panel of arbitrators of the SIAC, the List of Arbitrators of the HKIAC, the Panel of International Arbitrators of the KCAB and the Panel of Arbitrators of the THAC. Katie is consistently ranked in leading directories, and is recognised as a “Next Generation Partner” by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific. She has been recommended by Who's Who Legal (2024) as a Most Highly Regarded Future Leader in International Arbitration as well as a national leader in Southeast Asia. Katie has been described as “a remarkably devoted and extremely bright lawyer”, recognised for her “strategic acumen” and “exceptional client communication and negotiation skills”, "really impressive" and “a star of the next generation of international arbitration lawyers”. Katie has also been consistently recognised as a Rising Star in Euromoney’s Rising Stars Expert Guide in Commercial Arbitration in 2021 to 2023. Katie is a Delegate of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, a member of the LCIA Asia Pacific Users' Council and is a member of the executive committee of the Asia-Pacific Forum for International Arbitration and its publication sub-committee. She regularly publishes and speaks on international arbitration.
